Soldiers would often write poems of their experiences in the war so that people could understand what it was like for them in the trenches.

Follow the instructions to make this simple poppy cross with a remembrance poem written on the base.

You can either use the first template that includes a simple poem of remembrance, or you can use the second template and write your own peom about remembering the soldiers.

Print out one of the template opposite.

You will need:
*A piece of card
*Crayons or felt tips
*Glue and scissors.

Colour the cross and the poppy then stick the sheet onto some card.

Carefully cut around the cross.

Your finished cross should look like this.

You could take your cross to your local war memorial, or you could display it in your home on Remembrance Sunday.
